We love Tonic Fabrication! All of us lust over the handmade beauties coming out of Portland, Oregon. But unlike most Portland builders Tonic doesn't have a waiting list a mile long. Their bikes are for here & now, where ever your here might be. Everything from Tonic Fabrication is hand made in house by the two man team Landon & Tony. And we mean everything, they custom bend the tubes & CNC machine the hardware allowing them to focus their time on the tech side of their frames as apposed to brazing fancy features. Because for us its the technical side of Tonics which really shines through; their attention to frame design and the little details such as their signature head tube stack, the use of BB30 in their cross models & the wishbone stays to name a few. And when all these features come together what you get is something unique, understated and very special.
Tonic - "I don’t know what to say about Tony and myself that doesn’t sound like a terrible cross between a job interview and a first date. I think it’s fair to say we haven’t accomplished much as bike riders, and sometimes laugh at things we shouldn’t. We believe in bikes, doing your own thing, and doing it well.
Prior to starting Tonic in 2004, we’d spent most of our adult lives employed in bicycle manufacturing and design. In spite of ourselves, we’d managed to pick up a thing or two along the way. We believe this experience sets us apart."
The Vanishing Point has been a long time in the works. Tonic started with jump bikes then branched out with a fixed gear model then a cyclo cross model, now finally there is a road specific model. The frame is designed to be comfortable but fast and stiff like a track frame. The beefy Enve forks, oversized tubing, oversized chainstays, wish bone stay as well the oversized head tube are all designed to help the frame stay stiff when you decide to give bursts of power. The frame is far from the lightest on the market but we're not all training for the peloton, the Vanishing Point is perfect for Sportives, commuting & lesure riding of all sorts.
Vanishing Points can be bought from stock size or custom built to your size.

- Headset - Tonic "We like integrated headsets, but their low stack height can lead to disproportionately tall head tubes, or running a million spacers underneath the stem to get the bars to a comfy height. Workable, but terrible looking. Headset combines an integrated lower, and press-fit upper cup. The integrated lower is indestructible , while the press fit upper cup and cap takes up the space a normal headset would have. The upper cup is pressed in by us, and we machine the lower race after welding. Our forks even have a built in race. The system couldn’t be simpler or cleaner looking."
